Cronkhite w/removable straps?

I purchased a cronkhite gig bag from Torpedobags about a year ago, and shortly sold it after because the straps were built into the case, and the straps themselves were large and cut into my neck when I carried it. Can torpedo do a bag where the straps aren't built into the case? If not, does anyone know where I can find a reunion blues small tenor gig bag in brown leather? Thanks!

Their flight style cases at least used to be not built into the bag

I have two of the older (slide outside) bags and both straps are removable.
Both Cordura and before the Chinese takeover.

Yeah Bruce the O style bags are sometimes removable but the newer slide inside the bag G style ones are not.
OP you can ask Torpedo bags about custom work, they might be able to do it. But all the stock Cronkhite cases have the straps mounted permanently.
All the RB bags have that neat pocket that the straps can hide it. I'd still take the quality of Cronkhite any day over RB.

I have a Glenn-made Cronkhite travel case (separate bell/slide) in leather. The straps are not removable. This one was probably made in his final year before retiring.

If you're not using the straps you can just tighten them so they sit flat against the back of the case. I think there are good reasons why they are permanently attached to the case. Having them riveted to the bag over a large surface puts much less stress on that area of the bag (and the seams) than having all the weight of the instrument concentrated on two small points.

On my first bag years ago from Glenn I forgot about the straps. I used a razor blade and cut the off as close to the end as I could get. After that when I ordered a case I would ask not to have the straps. Was never a problem they would just delete from the order.

Take a look at the Gard 21-MLK Leather bag

I had a Brown RB with the slide compartment inside. Couldn't deal with it, sold it. Like the Gard so much better.
