Found money - sort of.

So I was going through the map pocket in my car today and I found an undeposited check from a 2014 Christmas gig. Should I -
A. Call the church and explain the situation and see if they would re-issue the check?
B. Forget about it and chalk one up to dumbassery on my part?
C. Try to deposit it?
D. Blame Barack Obama as he was president at that time?
E. Ask a bunch of strangers on the internet what to do?
It's $125 - won't make or break me, but would cover 6% of the cost of my new Lawler.

E. Definitely.
If you have an ongoing relationship with the church,
maybe A. But realistically, B.

You have a much better chance of it not being rejected if you use a digital deposit. If you use a live teller, they will probably turn it away

The Church treasurer is probably trying to figure out what happened to that check. If you choose B, send the check back with a note saying it's a contribution toward being rehired for another gig.

I have done that a few times, and in each case they were happy to issue another check. In one case, a private school, they actually contacted me first to offer a new check and clear it off their books.

I think I'd call the church treasurer, detail exactly what happened, apologize for any inconvenience caused, and explain that the call was to report the serial number of the (now invalid ?) check, on the outside chance that it was still on their books. If the church offers to issue a new check, you can decide whether to accept or decline the offer.
