Re: Selmer 23
I have a Model 23 K Special Modified. For what I've found Keith Ecker installed a redisigned receiver and leadpipe to accept Bach mouthpieces on those horns. It was probably done at the Bach factory. I don't know what the real difference is though. It sounds like there could be a problem to find a mouthpiece for an unmodified Semer 23?

Thanks for the information about Keith Ecker. I’m using a Bach 7C. It fits the receiver fine and the horn plays fine and tunes to A440 with the tuning slide out about 1/4inch.
I also read that the modified lead pipe might have been a way around paying tariffs since part of the assembly took place in US.

Hi goodgig,
I have K, a great horn.
The pity thing is that Selmer has discontinued the trombone production after the acquisition of Bach corp.
So there is no popularity of Selmer trombone anymore in general market(not like us) compared with the Mark 6 saxophones which prices reaching to $10,000.
You can see and enjoy the same beautiful engravings on your 23 to the expensive saxophone.

Pretty sure it’s .485 bore. I'm most impressed with the build quality of this trombone.

Re: Selmer 23
hello i just bought a selmer 23 from 1956 and am looking to find out which mouthpieces should be used with this trombone? I need a gold-plated mouthpiece because I have some allergic problems with the white metal mouthpieces

You can use a wide range of mouthpieces, depending on what your sound concept is and what your embouchure is. Anything from a Bach 15C size to a Bach 6 1/2 AL will work. Whatever you buy, it must be small shank.gegegegege wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 3:49 pm hello i just bought a selmer 23 from 1956 and am looking to find out which mouthpieces should be used with this trombone? If you want Schilke equivalents, you are talking about 42 to 50 size. Yamaha are similar numbers, but their 48 is a Schilke 50.
Almost any mouthpiece can be bought in gold plate or be plated after the fact.
