I have a friend who is not a Forumite. Hes looking for a Bach made in 1962, his birth year. He only wants a 1962 Bach.
Hes interested in anything between a 6 and a 42, with or without F attachment. If you have one, or know of one, PM me and Ill connect the two of you.
Like I said, a strange request.

A lovely sentiment!
1962 puts you in the Mt Vernon era, which drives the prices up a little for a horn in good condition. The large bores, in particular, fetch some lofty prices, but a 6, 8, 12 or 16 should be attainable.
Pinning down the exact year of manufacture is a little trickier, though someone on the forum has access to shop card, from memory, which will give you the exact date of manufacture for any given serial number in that era.

This link seems to indicate that trombone 5950 was 1961, and 6900 was from 1964, so that should give you a ballpark. Im sure some members will have horns from that era with the shop card, so you should be able to narrow it down further.
Good luck!

Yeah, my 34B is #83XX, which puts it in 1965, first year in Elkhart.
He knows the Mt Vernons fetch a premium price, and he's willing to pay it.
Thanks for the info, I'll pass it along to him.
