LT S51D a copy of the Schilke 51D rim, for those who prefer that rim shape

Is there anything special about a 51D rim when compared with a 51 or a 51B?

51D is definitely smaller than a 51 and has a sharper bite.
The inside diameter is about 100.

The 51D actually has a slightly smaller diameter.
51B & 51: 25.63mm/1.010in.
51D:      25.55mm/1.005in.

As far as rim contour, etc. I can't really tell much of a difference.

51D's typically measure a little smaller than Schilke's specs, and 51's usually measure a LOT bigger than specs.  I measure most 51's at least 1.020 and some are bigger than that.
