I had an old style Xeno with the gold bell and loved it, wish I had kept it instead of selling it for my Conn!
Tempted to get one of these now even though it's a bit out of budget...
Not quite on topic for what's really an old thread, so starting this new thread here:
I tried a YSL-882GO with gold brass bell on Saturday and in the short time I had with it noticed very little difference between its sound and the sound of my Conn 88H from 1993. Maybe an ever-so-slightly superior responsiveness and clarity with my triple-tonguing exercises, but that was about it. Overall, I thought the Yamaha an excellent bone and worthy of consideration against a Conn. I can see why Ian Bousfield, who is said to have once commented that the Conn 88H is "the best trombone ever made," likes today's Yamahas so much.
