From Bass Bone to tenor.
I switched from saxophone my sophomore year in high school and played bass trombone for three years. I’m switching now to a tenor trombone, but I played a 1 1/2G mouthpiece. What’s a good transition mouthpiece from Bass to tenor?
And it’s been about 20 years since I’ve played?
Thanks!

What trombone are you switching to? Large or Small Shank? a 6 1/2AL or 5G is usually a good place to start.

Probably a large bore with an F attachment. I’m still looking for one but wanted to start buzzing around the mouthpiece. Maybe I should wait. Thoughts?

20 years since you last played? Consider yourself a beginner. Use any mouthpiece you can find. Most beginners seem to work best on a Bach 6½AL or 5G on a large bore or 7C on a small bore. Get started and branch out if you need to.

I’m sure I’m rusty, but no beginner.
All joking aside, I’ll take this in consideration thank you.

Did this after 40 years. 6.5 AL worked great for restart on tenor.

Thank you! I would love to just buy a bass trombone actually, but they’re just so expensive! That would be a dream.

You can often find a single or an old dependent dual in F/flatE for a reasonable amount.Bassbone95 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 8:13 am Thank you! I would love to just buy a bass trombone actually, but they’re just so expensive! That would be a dream.
