Do Y'all name your trombones? If so, what are some good examples? I'm looking to name my Getzen 747 Eterna II, and any recommendations would also help.

No need for names. My trombones have been referred to as 6H, 88H, 71H, 2B, Recording, etc. That's enough to describe them for me.

I don't have names, but I have colors for different horns I play a lot. I get different colored cloth bike handlebar wrap and put it on the main brace and neck pipe to keep my shirt collars clean. So tonight I might play blue and gray.

Is that a subtle historical reference? Is there deeper political or cultural meaning here?

I didn't really intend it that way, but that's how it came out. I'm a Yank by birth, but I've lived down here in Dixie longer than anywhere else. Not a political statement, not even really a geographical statement, just a happy accident .

I confess that I'm not real enthusiastic about naming inanimate objects. Once you go down that road, how far do you go? First you name your trombone. Then you have to name all of them, and the euphoniums and the tubas and other instruments as well. I guess your car is next (so I'd need to name the car and the truck), and of course the tractor. Should I name the generator (maybe "Old Dependable"?). I'd have to name two bandsaws, a table saw, two chain saws, a planer, a log splitter, a propane heater (?), my grill (?), ...
It's a bad road to go down. And I don't have the time for it. Better not to start. Picking names for children and pets is hard enough. We have named one of the 'possums around here "Eeyore" -- but only because he's around so much, and now and then I have to release him from a trap.

If I named my instruments, I'd have to come up with so many names that I might as well just use a random name generator.

I think it means kangaroo mouse, the one who teaches the ways of the desert.
Heck they should name it "Usul".

Yes, most of them have names. The Shires is Betty, the Holton is Joan and Faye is the King. The piston horns are Burt and Roger. The 158 probably isn't sticking around for very long, so she doesn't have a name.
