Indiana Elkhart Trombone SerialNr. 2435

Hi everybody,
I own a Elkhart Trombone Serial Nr. 2435 with small bell, silver.
Condition is good, slide is NOT in good condition.
I am NOT a professional player, but I think the horn sounds very great.
Anybody out there, who can tell me if it is worth a new slide? Or is it more or less an instrument to look at but not to play?
I looked for a list of serial Numbers but couldn´t find one. Looks like it is 90 years or so...
