I sold the old King Liberty I have and I'm getting ready to ship it. It has a very solid case. Any suggestions on bungie/twine to make sure it stays shut? I don't want to use tape, for fear of damaging the case.

I've shipped many trombones and have never had one pop open during shipping.

I get a U-Haul lamp box, cut off one side to form a triangular box. Wrap the case in paper or bubble wrap and it should be good to go.

You could wrap the case in bubble wrap, then wrap the packing tape around the bubble wrap…that’s what I tend to do.

A big zip tied run through one of the handle shackles?

You can even cut a sleeve off an old sweatshirt and run the zip tie through that to protect the case.

I would use two 2-inch cotton gauze strips tied between each latch and the handle.

Put thick cushions of bubble wrap in each end of the box, in case the box gets dropped on end. And some inside the case to hold it in place. Maybe a styrofoam cone in the bell (from Michael's).

Definitely a styrofoam cone in the bell, or if you don't have that, roll up some bubble wrap and put it in the bell so that it sticks out enough to prevent the edge of the bell from contacting the inside wall of the case. The most common damage I've seen is a crushed bell because it slammed against the inside wall of the case, probably due to the package being dropped.
