It's a very special "bumpy bell" :biggrin:
The valve is a patented valve whose name I can't remember. Should have been added aftermarket, I don't think Bach installed this at the factory (and it's unlacquered around it, as if it wasn't relacquered after installation).
It's beeing sold by a french shop, if you are interested I can translate your questions and their answers.

Yup, there's definitely some curious stuff going on there. It looks kinda like someone set it up like a Courturier "conical bore" trombone.

I have seen photos of Hulot valves on the Internet many times. However, I have never seen one in the wild or heard someone talk about the pros and cons of how they play.

Anyone have something to offer?
