Unaccompanied standards

Post by Nolankberk »

Hey TC

Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for standards to play unaccompanied at an audition. I tend to play ballads a bit.. interpretively.. when I don't have a rhythm section behind me.

Thanks

For a jazz audition? How about Lament by J.J. Johnson?

Oh great idea actually. Changes aren't bad either. Thanks

Most of the bonekill stuff is cool as hell but they wouldn't really be classified as standards that judges are looking for

Just get a Fake Book (Real Book) and start reading down the tunes. There should be dozens (if not hundreds) of nice standards for you to use.
