I’m looking at a really clean 20 year old Yamaha YBL421GE bass trombone at a dealers. It’s in great nick and has been serviced. Price £1300.
A new one costs £2200 so my question is could this used one be priced too highly

A bit steep, yes. If you want a cheap but good single, £400-500 should get you a 321 or 322. £1500-1800 easily opens up the world of respectable things with two valves.

Splitting the difference, this is good value: https://www.gumtree.com/p/trombone/bass ... 1466833618
You might want a D slide for the second valve eventually, but at that price it's no problem.

It seems a little too much for me, but it all depends on how clean and well-kept it is, and how it plays. Can you try it out? The valve is usually good, but can on some horns be worn and noisy - clanking with a loose feel.

If it's a really good specimen, I'd offer somewhere between £800-1000 and take the negotiations from there.

As others said way over, you can find better for not much more than that, 500-750 is more like it
