Dear trombone friends
Is here anyone which had some experience with Schmelzer trombone, especially Bass trombone ( Number 5 ).
Is Mr Schmelzer the one who makes the trombone by himself or some "china"parts?
I am looking for a Bass trombone with 2 valves, i have budget for a used Bach Stradivarius 50 with 2 valves, Yamaha 620G, or Xeno Bass Yamaha or is better to take new Schmelzer bass trombone
I have found also one Meinl Bass trombone but dont know anything about that brand.
Any advice?
Thank you all
Simon

I'd be curious to see how the no.5 plays for those that have!

Pretty good horns. I played them at the Laetzsch festival a few years ago.

I've played several of Manfreds bass trombones (though he doesent make many) he's a friend and I have travelled sometimes with him. They are excellent horns. He makes them himself he buys some parts from specialist makers but not Chinese, they are Manfreds own and are quite unique. He is well known for his copies of Earl Williams horns and they are good too. He does quality work and has many loyal customers. His basses that I have played have been great open horns, easy to centre and play well in tune. I'd recommend them to you... Doug
