I have a Kanstul H8 leadpipe I’m potentially looking to sell or trade, contact me if you’re interested. I’ve also liked the Brassark copper 32h and the Shires 1.5 that came with my MD+ horn (although technically these are .508).

Would it make much difference putting a .500 leadpipe in a .508? size -wise they are pretty close.

I size the pipes I make at .005" less than the bore size. Otherwise they won't fit. Some makers size them even looser than that. I don't think .001" difference would affect anything. But a .008" gap would probably not be air tight and wouldn't play well.

How loose to some manufacturers go? If you size at .005 larger and .008 would lose a seal are they .006-.007 or is it that some manufacturers pipes leak? It wouldn’t surprise me, just wondering if there’s a consistency to how loose. I had a pipe direct from from Bach that I had my tech size and it was off that size in the opposite direction by like .005.

What I mean is, for example, a .500 bore pipe is actually .495 or less outer diameter, so if you put that in a .508 bore tube, it's .013 or more difference between tube ID and leadpipe OD.

Aha! Yeah that makes sense. I can't do math on a Saturday.
