Just picked up some Canadian money for a trip I’ll be taking. Also in the past I have gotten different European currencies. Why is their money so much cooler than USA?

We have these greasy pieces of paper with dead Presidents on them, and they have all kinds of pictures of all kinds of things and very cool paper, watermarks, different kinds of electronic see-through things. Why is our money so dumb and theirs is so cool?

Many currencies are different sizes so vision challenged people can differentiate between them.
The colors on many currencies are chosen so you can't easily separate them to forge the plates.
Foreign currencies often have better anti-counterfeit properties.

The reason for the dull American currencies is more hidebound than anything else. Newer American currencies have special papers, anti-counterfeit features, etc. But they aren't as pretty as the Canadian money.
