Hi all,
I'm wondering if there is any significant difference between tuning slides from a NY36 - MV36 or a NY50 to a MV50 or any other qualifying Bach sizes.
I'm aware of the bell & hand-slide differences, but was wondering about the tuning slide(s).

I have done some swapping around, and they seem pretty consistent. 42s and 50s

They are usually consistent but sometimes the NY models have different sized components, depending on the year. Bach was still tinkering. I had a NY36B and the tuning slide was wider, wouldnt even fit in my 80s 36B. Also seen this on 34s.

The tuning slide legs are longer… but they seem to all fit just fine for me after about 1940 or so.
I would not be surprised to learn that the tapers are slightly different, and the hand bent ones will likely not be close to interchangeable.
One of these days, I’ll do my best to blueprint the pieces that I have, but quick checks any eyeball tests tell me that they are nominally the same design. Even the two 45s that I have that the shop cards say are different appear the same.
Cheers,
Andy

spans are all over the place, even if the tubes have the same OD.
