Bach Stradivarius model 5

Has anyone here ever seen this rare model? Years ago I won an eBay auction for one, but it wasn’t delivered. Fortunately I recouped some of my loss via EBay’s claims policy.

The model 5 was only produced from 1938-1941. I’ve not been able to find any specs of the horn, but I believe it was a dual bore….maybe along the line of the dual bore King 2B.

My 1940ish catalog has it as a single bore .485” with a smaller 7” bell than a 6.

“An excellent instrument for small orchestras where only two or three brasses are in the ensemble.”

Never seen nor played one in the flesh,
Andy

Could you possibly scan and share? Thanks!

I have many times… the whole thing is on here somewhere as a pdf. I just don’t have it handy on this device. There is a link to it at Bach Loyalist… but it isn’t working right now.

Cheers,
Andy

I’ve shared this before in another thread, but here are the specs for the vintage small and “medium” bores, according to Peppy Pettinato. I think the only one of those mentioned that would even be considered a medium bore today is the Bach 16, and even some people lump .509 sized horns in with small bores nowadays. Either way here it is!

Looks like a Bach 5 has the same slide as the 6 but with a completely different bell section.

I feel like it might be a good idea to transcribe that and sticky it. If people keep posting that, someday I’ll be in a convenient spot and can do it

How big is the file? That can be changed pretty easily.
