Title says all. My bass is really heavy and I want to see if this will help me before I resort to more expensive options.

Have you tried the Neotech grip? Works very well for me on my YBL612.

The only thing I will mention is that because of the trigger mechanism set up on my Benge 290, the second trigger gets in the way of the Neotech. If you have a King or Benge style horn, the Neotech won't work. If you have a different horn such as a Holton TR181, or the Yamaha listed above, I think the Neotech should work.

Just checked: it looks like OP has a Yamaha YBL612R11.
Mine is a YBL612 dependent, with twin thumb triggers, and Neotech is perfect.
The YBL612R11 though also dependent, may well have split triggers, thumb and 2nd finger, so perhaps the Neotech solution may not be optimal.

With split triggers, it really depends on how far the 2nd trigger's paddle is from where you hold the horn. The 2nd trigger on my Benge is very close to where I hold it. As a result, there was no room for the Neotech to attach to the horn.
I don't know about the OP's horn. Maybe someone knows...

Yeah my horn is split, and IMO the Neotech is a little too cumbersome. I need something I can take off, as it's not my horn. Thanks for the suggestion though!

How about the Sheridan Get-A-Grip? I know a bass trombonist who uses one on his Yamaha Xeno bass, and he really likes it. I think they're like $50 + shipping brand new. Might be worth a shot for you.

That was my next shot, but I want to start small. I'd rather not spend $55 if I can get what I want for $13.
