47 vs 42 slide
Hey all!
Just wondering if anybody knows of any difference between the Bach artisan slides and their standard 42 slides besides the removable leadpipe option in the newer artisan slides.
Thanks!

They are a bit different overall. Some brass parts (upper brace I think), nickel crook perhaps? I had one and it was different in a bunch of details and in how it played as well.
I prefer a good 42 slide.

Appreciate the info! Do you happen to know if a 42 fits on the 47 receivers? I'll be stopping by my local brass shop to switch out a few things. F to A in the staff feels super stuffy.

Yes, they are the same connector and length.

And the bell ?Whats the difference there? Why did they feel the need for develope a new model instead of improving and expand on the already great 42?

The 47 is based on a particular Mt Vernon 42 that had slight differences in build and bell taper than a modern 42.

Not to get far off topic, but I find it funny that the artisan line includes 42 tapered bells now. Not to mention that they've done next to nothing with their basses since they started putting instrument innovations axials on them.

A little smaller in the stem, a little thinner in the end of the flare, and a French bead. This is all off the top of my head... I could be wrong!
