My neighbor wants to gift me his brother's antique CG Conn LTD - chrome-plate (redone @20 years ago) Conn horn. Serial number 298320. It has a responsive, bright sound which is sharp. ]How old is this horn?[/b][/b] Is it worth investing some work in? Overall, in good mechanical shape.
Thanks folks.

Re: Gifler Antique trombone
Do you happen to know the model number?

FWIW, the model number should appear where the two parts join. It will be 2 digits followed by H. That is if the instrument was made after 1919 (when this model numbering started).
There is one condition where I think a restore is not warranted: if the instrument is in High Pitch (will have "HP" stamped somewhere, either near the serial or on the cork barrels (the place where the end of the slide hides when the slide is closed)). High pitch instruments have been obsolete for at least 50 years.
A couple of pictures to show what it looks like can help.

Re: accept GIFT Antique trombone
The serial number indicates 1935, so there should be an H model number on it (10H, 18H, etc.).
