Note that we have created a new sub-board to Chit-Chat and all the Religion topics are in it. You can choose to ignore this board if you have no interest in religion topics. If you want to discuss religion, please be aware that we will not permit trollism, snide remarks, or blatant proselytizing.
I will be moving all the topics in Chit-Chat that previously had religious themes into the new board. None will be deleted. Topics like Merry Christmas, what did you get for Christmas, Happy Easter, or others that simply express holiday wishes will be left.

You know we can't talk about religion without snide remarks!
Comeon, man!

Oh God!
Yet another bash religion place(board), not just a thread.

"Oh God" was a very funny motion picture with Gorge Burns.

On one hand we have a believer who is trying to convince himself to not believe.
On the other hand we have a non believer who is trying to convince himself to believe.
Just to get the ball rolling, of whom do I speak?

I have two hands, but only one heart.
Yes, DS, but it's not binary, although I do recognize your two.
I also see a couple of believers who are terrified of examining any of their CAAT code (commonly accepted as true). And a couple more sophisticated ones who do think, but with logic an observer might call tortuous.
And a few more positions on various continuums as well.
So I take issue with your suggestion it is binary - this is a bit more nuanced than that.
I'm not even sure where to put you.

Likely no one in the "external" world.

What's a CAAT code and why is it scary?
tortuous! moi? I hope not.

Convince myself to believe? Well, I know you can't be talking about me - cause that's not hap'nin'!

CAAT = Commonly Accepted As True.
For some it's the Divinity of Jesus.
For some it's every word of the New Testament (which version?)
You make the distinction.

I don't think we should call people out by name here.
But his point is actually a good one. We tend to discuss the content, but there is process involved here too.

"CAAT = Commonly Accepted As True."
Not the solution, but perhaps the problem!
