Howdy,
thought I'd share this abomination of a slide with everyone. It started as a stock 50 slide with a nickel crook that someone had added. Since the leadpipe was reamed out, I thought I'd put a new one in, since it seemed pretty good otherwise. Turns out that pipe REALLY didn't want to come out. Instead, my tech found a tube in his stocks and put it all together, aligned it, etc. It's only when we tried to put in the Holton 185 leadpipe I had that it became clear that this was no .562 tube... it's an Olds .554, exact same outer diameter as a 50 tube. I thought... Why not? So he shaved down the leadpipe a bit, and now I have a pretty unique dual bore slide.
Not only is it unique, but it plays pretty well and sounds great too. Really buttery mid register sound and response, but it doesn't choke off anywhere either.
