Hello Slide Friends,

As the title suggests, I am looking for a valve linkage kit for my newly acquired Jupiter SSL 636. I am primarily a tubist and am quite ignorant to trombone parts and equipment if I’m being honest so any help would be greatly appreciated. I picked up the horn on FB marketplace knowing it was missing the trigger but figured it was a good deal even if I had to do some slight repairs. My research on parts from the manufacturer or secondary suppliers has not gotten me very far, and I’m wondering if I can substitute a similar linkage system from a different horn on this one. Again, any help or guidance on this issue is much appreciated.

Thanks!

The trigger parts for the old Jupiter JSL-636 are available in the Allied Catalog. Any tech should be able to get them for you. Those trigger assemblies (the ones with the black plastic threaded parts) have several components. My recommendation is to take it to a tech so that you don't end up missing a part or two. The catalog lists all of these components:

Lever, Lever Saddle, Lever Hinge Rod, Lever Hinge Rod Nut, Lever Spring, Lever Shaft, Lever Shaft Nut, Lever Joint and Lever Joint Screw. These listed parts do not include any of the stop arm or cork plate components.....which could be missing from an old horn.

Again, I highly recommend that you take it to a tech. Sometimes lever assemblies require 2 or more of some of the components in order to function. If you just guess and order some parts, you could find yourself in a frustrating situation.
