XO 1242 dependent bass suggestions
I acquired a Jupiter xo 1242 bell section and valves and it’s missing the main slide. I was curious if anyone may know what may be compatible with its locking nut and taper.

I'm not sure there is anything except the XO slides.

I have a Chinese bone slide that’s a .550 and the taper fits but the threads are different.

There are a couple XO artists on the forum. They may be able to provide a contact for a slide. Probably a dealer reference.
Good luck.
Good luck.

You might also consider swapping out the slide receiver for something more "standard". A tech can typically handle that for not such a bad price and would let you get any used slide if parts are available (e.g. anything still in production) such that you swap out the slide receiver for whatever accepts that slide.

That comes with a caveat. I learned this the hard way once. Not all slides are equal length, even if they fit. A slide that's a little short is manageable, but one that's a little long is not.Matt K wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 8:23 am You might also consider swapping out the slide receiver for something more "standard". I tried my student's horn this week. It will fit Edwards/bach slides, ish, and the threads are totally different. You'd have to get a different lock nut and receiver, as they don't go in quite far enough.

I haven't seen any Jupiter XO basses recently.....then again, I have seen a lot less of everything because of the pandemic. Anyway, do the newest Jupiters still have that unique system for locking the threads in place in the removable leadpipes?
