Just over 10 years ago, Gene Pokorny of the CSO and Dr. Andrew Glendening of the University of Redlands had a conversation. They imagined a workshop focused on low brass that would offer a different kind of experience than any other summer music festival.
Like other festivals, it would bring the best musicians from all over the United States and the world to share their knowledge. Unlike other festivals, it would offer unprecedented access to these musicians by offering a schedule full of intimate masterclasses, and include real talks that get to the nitty gritty of what it really means to be a musician in todays world.
If youre looking for something different this year, consider the Pokorny Seminar to experience things like:
- [li]Asking pros the questions youve always wanted to ask[/li][li]Getting instant feedback from a wide range of the worlds best players[/li][li]Real discusssions about life and music that go deeper than surface-level, addressing the real issues we face every day in the practice room and beyond (and how to overcome them)[/li][li]Motivation to recommit to your craft and to discover whats possible for YOU with music[/li][li]Wearing shorts, flip flops and Hawaiian shirts all day[/li][li]Excellent tacos[/li]
