Maybe you lost/changed jobs this year... maybe you're part of the pandemic "great resignation"... maybe you are no longer covered by your employer's health plan.

ACA Open enrollment is for you. Deadline December 15 for insurance to start Jan 1.

Subsidies for lower incomes are increased since 2020.

Here in TX the available polices vary widely in premiums vs.deductible vs. benefits vs. providers. Give yourself time to study the options and game out what might be better for you.

My wife and I have been on an ACA plan for three years now. A financial lifesaver!

Open Enrollment is open again until Dec 15, 2022

Note that the extra COVID-related ACA subsidies will end this year so you may wish to examine other plan offerings rather than merely re-up with what you have now.

I have a 25 year old that turns 26 and will go off of my insurance in July at that time. Can he sign up then?

If you’re on a parent’s Marketplace plan, you can remain covered through December 31 of the year you turn 26 (or the age permitted in your state) according to HealthCare.Gov. Check with who you have it with now to see how to remain covered those last six months.

Definitely. Give yourself time to research various plans. My plan from my existing insurer (via the Exchange) went up considerably for next year, but another plan from the same insurer offers the same benefits and comparable co-pays (if not lower) within a "limited provider network". Luckily, my doctors are all within the limited network, saving me $170 per month.

And if you're not on such a policy and he will lose your insurance when he turns 26 he may be able to jump onto an Obamacare marketplace policy mid year...

Special Enrollment Period

It's not something you want to start looking into on that day. Start researching now so you know the timeline of things you have to do.
