Hi all,

I've started getting some more students in my area(yay!) that are a little less experienced than I'm used to. I'm perfectly fine working through their Essential Elements book, but I'd like to give them outside things to look at/learn and play. Any really great beginning methods and/or duet books out there?

There is a super beginning duet book called “Schnibbles for Two.” I know that sounds stupid, but its great. Each schnibble is a very short duet that teaches a specific topic. Easy to find on google and available for both trumpet and trombone.

I'm a fan of the Philip Sparke books--Starter Studies and Skilful Studies-- they are progressively arranged tunes that are fun to play and all bring up issues to work on. There is no discussion in the book, so definitely need a teacher. There are 2 books of similar duets also.

Check out Michael Davis’ books ‘Brass Buzz’, and ‘Just add Trombone’

Start them out on the Rubank System and when they complete those books, get them into Arbans.
