Wagnerism - Alex Ross
Wagnerism: Art and Politics in the Shadow of Music. From the author of The Rest is Noise. Anybody get this for Christmas? For those who say we shouldn’t mix politics and music.

About 60% through it. The range is phenomenal which probably means that every reader will have some parts they skip over. For example, I hadn't known about the direct link between Siegfried and the myth of the western cowboy via the (white supremacist) author of "The Virginian".

Did not get it for Christmas. But thank you for reminding me, I had intended to get it and read it, looks very interesting. Particularly now when one doesn’t get to play any Wagner operas... Did you read it already?

I’m going to wait for the paperback I think. I liked Noise , and gave it as a gift a couple of times.
