As you go through the early history of the trombone, you should be aware that there is a difference of opinion between Will Kimball and Howard Weiner. You should do a little research into Weiner's findings as well. Both are respected scholars in History of the Trombone.
I am looking forward to your presentation.

So here's what I was able to find.BGuttman wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 7:18 am As you go through the early history of the trombone, you should be aware that there is a difference of opinion between Will Kimball and Howard Weiner. The Historic Brass Society holds a lot of history as well as much of the work done by Howard Weiner. i can see what I can get from them by reaching out to them later.
Someone did some research on Renaissance sackbuts in 1984 https://books.google.com/books?id=9IMVx ... &q&f=false
(tried all sorts of methods to download this as a pdf since it's not available anywhere in the world)
Stewart Carter wrote nearly 500 pages about the trombone in the renaissance https://www.amazon.com/Trombone-Renaiss ... 157647206X
And to top it all off, The Trombone by Trevor Herbert: https://books.google.com/books?id=Wy8bh ... &q&f=false
Doug yeo does have articles but that part of his website is a garbled mess on my end.

The ITA also probably has some good journals I can look at.
But the biggest thing I want to avoid are sources that use outdated or unverified sources. I think the 3 books I found plus will kimballs website should do me just fine but I'll try to research wisely.
