Yes, thank you veterans. Doug Eliott and I were both in military bands, and probably lots of other members, too. That being said, my job wasn't so dangerous. Thank you folks.

My unit (76th U.S. Army Band) got deployed to Iraq for 11 months about 6 months after I got out. You're in the military and you can be place in harms way at any moment. They pulled escort duty for the first few months they were there. Thankfully no one from my former unit got hurt, but they knew people who did.
I am very thankful for the experiences I had and the people I served with - wouldn't trade it for anything.

I was very happy to play (free) for a Veteran’s Day celebration at a local retirement community. A 100-year old WWII vet read the invocation.
