36B leadpipe swap?

Post by Burgerbob »

Just got a pretty good 36B. I dig it, it makes some good sounds, but the leadpipe really eats my mouthpieces and seems to make the horn pretty sharp. I'm not in a hurry to change it, but...

What have you put in your 36? Shires medium pipes? Brassark?

Most every Bach I've encountered is like that, though it has never bothered me. You dig it and it makes good sounds so consider spending more time with it and adjusting to it.

I like M/K drawing leadpipes. He does both a Conn and Bach style.

Interesting. My 16M didn't do that, but that's the only reference point I remember!

I'll definitely play it for a while as is.

M and K is my vote. I like the Conn style more than the Bach.

Well I can tell you that genuine lead pipes, take a while to get. I have had a set of three to modify my 42 slide on order from Bach for now going on about three months. There is also another part that had to ordered to properly modify, maybe a different cork barrel. I now have dreams about getting this slide work done, given how long it is taking!

I haven't had a problem getting stock 50 leadpipes, but that was a couple years ago.

The set of 3 is a different than the ones they solder in. I don't imagine they make many of the sets.

I'm talking about the real stock pipes, no collar, not the weird sets they sell.

If Conn Selmer has the part in stock, they send it pretty quickly. If they don't, it can take awhile. They do indicate the quantity they have in stock on their website.

When I placed my order with my tech in early Feb, there was one order in front of mine. Not a backlog at all...

I know Sandhagen has some pipes in a drawer.
If you get your pipe pulled you can always try my Conn set and Brassark. There is 1 of the Conn 525s that does work well...
