Remington 1.5 G

Post by Fafner »

Did Bach ever make a 1.5 G for a Remington receiver? If so is it possible to get a hold of one or a copy?

They did! But they were custom order pieces. Not a ton floating around.

If you're looking for a Remington 1 1/2 I recommend hitting up Doug Elliott and getting a MB108, MB J* cup and a J8C shank. It's a 1 1/2G on steroids.

The next best option is sending your piece to Bob Reeves in California and having Reeves make a Remington sleeve for your 1 1/2G.

Greg Black can also make you one of his 1 1/2s as a Remington but the wait time will be long.... and Bob Reeves can make a full Remington piece but it'll be pricey.

And Bill Symington's new MV 1 1/2G copy has a Conn shank. Works in my 70H

It's not a Conn shank. It's a old early Mount Vernon Bach shank. It's sorta like a long shank Schilke.

I've owned a Remington shank MV 2G and while it has the same length shank as Bill's piece the outside taper isn't the same. Bill's piece is skinnier than a standard Morse taper which is the opposite of a Remington which has a larger outside taper.

I personally haven't tried it in a Remington taper horn but in some pipes it doesn't fit.
