Suggestions for visit to NOLA?

Post by Doug Elliott »

I will be in New Orleans Sunday (today) and Monday. Any specific suggestions on where to go, who to hear, etc?

Dang, I missed this post, but if you go again here's a few:

Doreen Ketchens, who often has Keith "Wolf" Anderson (early Rebirth) on trombone. She has a group that plays on the street near Jackson Square, almost on a daily basis.

Palm Court Jazz Cafe-in French Quarter, near the market area. Lucian Barbarin often plays with a group there. They have jazz almost every night.

Rebirth Brass Band at the Maple Leaf Bar on Tuesday nights.

Fritzel's European Jazz Club in French QTR. Saw a great band there they played jazz in the Jelly Roll tradition.

Louisiana Music Factory, eastern edge of the French QTR- music store that often has live performances-everything from brass bands to acoustic groups.

Rock N Bowl- bowling alley that has a stage with bands at night.
