Ain't eBay wonderful?
Where else would you find a bargain like this (price just reduced from $105.12!):
https://www.ebay.com/i/173251412423?ul_noapp=true
This makes me jealous of trumpeters, who can apparently play this instrument like a clarinet (as long as you hold it pointing straight down and use BOTH white gloves)!
If the trumpet section sitting behind me in my big band played like this, I could toss out those earplugs!

But - whether right or left-handed - can you play the Chinese trombone pointing vertically downward (like the trumpet) - and still move the slide?
I think I'll bring a pair of white gloves to my next rehearsal to look more professional!

Impressive new technique. Those clever Chinese invent a new way to play after centuries of people doing it wrong.
While we are admiring, I note you can get a PROFESSIONAL trombone for under a hundred bucks. Easy-sneezy to get good return on your investment there.

Intermediate 3rd trombone, always looking for people to play with in the lower-left-corner Montana wilderness.

Trombone was also my consolation prize - my brother played saxophone. But he gave it up (after playing recorder for a few years) - and (many decades later) I still play my trombone!

Regarding the upside-down saxophone mouthpiece : I saw the "Carabinieri" Band [Policeman's Band] from Rome, Italy way back in the 60's and most of their single reed players had their mouthpieces positioned "Upside-Down" ! Was it a normal Italian method ?

Re: Ain't eBay wonderful?
Nope.
My guess is some stupid military order... Carabinieri are a part of the italian armed forces, not the police.
Or maybe a superstition, we italian are really superstitious

But I have never seen someone play this way, and I have seen bands from sicily to Milano.

Re: Ain't eBay wonderful?
Or they painted a "reed" on the top of the mouthpiece to be funny? I had a HS bandmate who did this. He used a backwards lig, so it looked pretty confusing. He was definitely a funny guy!

(I have tried playing upside-down. It is pretty much impossible.)

Re: Ain't eBay wonderful?
Chalumeau and early clarinets were played with the reed on top. I wouldn't be surprised that some local schools of playing kept that feature until quite late.
