Hello, wonderful friends of the trombone.
I'm toying with the idea of selling my Thein Bass Trombone. It's the Ben Van Dijk model. A few stats:
10 3/8" Kruspe-brass screw bell with engraving and a lovely kranz
Dual Hagmann valves that have never hung up and given me grief
Cool spikes on the tuning slides for added intimidation
Super-long spit valve lever for added personality
Custom wooden inserts/levers for the grips and valve levers
Larger slide (.562"-.578" dual bore or similar) with slight wear on the inners (been that way a long time and hasn't really got worse - just rotate the tube)
Flat Thein case - very classy dark grey with dark green velvet interior. Looking pretty German.

Again, I'm just toying with the idea of selling it, and only for a price worthy of the horn. If you are truly interested then you probably have a good idea of what it's worth. Send me an email if you would like to make an offer.
If you are seriously interested (and not simply inquisitive), send me an email and make me an offer, which has changed recently. My new email is the first letters of this little poem:
New horns are so pretty,
Even if you pay an arm and a leg.
Oh, I know this feeling well, believe me.
But don't fret, pet,
Rejoice in knowing that
I have many used horns. Cry no longer!

Remember, my preferences:
* I strongly prefer to ship CONUS, but will consider shipping overseas
* I consider trades of professional-level instruments but prefer PayPal
* Buyer pays PayPal fees, if any
Thanks!

That engraving is ridiculous!
Is the bell and slide stock? I thought that the usually bell on those horns were 10" and they came with single bore slides?

I want to try one of these so bad, but the one with the .547(.550?)/.567 bore slide.
I fear if I come into contact with one, Ill buy it.

I absolutely love my thein tenor, and I've heard the basses are just as good.

Hi folks,
I was told the slide is a custom job ordered from the Thein Brothers - So they made it, but it's not stock.
What am I playing now? The Thein! But I'm considering switching to this crazy Mick Rath-modified Bach 50 with Hagmanns. It's a very good player. I don't know...I'm confused!
And great to see you guys again! It's been a long time since I was on.

That Bach/Hagmann/Rath is a very interesting horn. As you know, I have been aware of that trombone for 40 years. Originally stacked rotors, it has always had a great sound. With the Hagmanns it is much easier down low, but it has always been the kind of Bach that you have to work at.... but most Bachs are like that. I had a good blow on it over a couple weeks before you bought it and was pleased to pass it on because I was getting sucked in, and could have become addicted to it !
It will reward you, but you have to spend time on it every single day !

That 50 is the type of horn you sell a kidney on the black market for.
