or maybe wedding bells? I'm getting married and having a kid this year, so now I must reluctantly sell off some of my collection. I am a also a proud endorser of Michael Rath trombones, so all of the non-Rath stuff must go! Let's start with the vintage Kings...
*Preface* All horns are ready to go straight out of the case! No major dents, tuning slides move as they should, slides aligned etc, no work required. I am meticulous about my instruments. Also, this is my private collection, so all horns are extremely resonant with great response.. I only purchased horns that could REALLY play.
1.) 1962 HN White Era King 2B Silver Sonic
Ser# 388XXX One owner, comes with original certificate/provenance from the King Company. Original lacquer=98% Some natural lacquer wear at contact points (hand grip and small spot on neck pipe, see photos). Also, some small strips (one inch long, 2 mm wide) in the gold wash of the bell, maybe from a stand or mute. Otherwise, horn is immaculate. Slide is 9.5/10, no wear on inners, super crisp engraving. Has original price tag from the sale in 1967 ($345, ha!). This era of King falls right in the "sweet spot" in terms of manufacturing years. (1955-1965). This is when all of the tweaks to optimize pitch & response were finalized, but before the factory moved to Eastlake & manufacturing methods changed to cut costs. This horn sings. Comes with original "gator skin" coffin case, King M21 mouthpiece cleaning rod & King marching lyre. $2500 shipped to the lower 48 states/continental US.

2.) 1965 HN White King 3B Silver Sonic (Ser#419XXX)- All Original lacquer, very little lacquer wear (scattered pinhole spots in outer slide), ALL gold wash in bell intact. No wear on inner slides, no dents/dings, tuning slide moves freely, "ready to play" condition. Engraving is crystal clear. One owner, purchased from estate sale. Original King "gator skin" case (leather on main handle frayed), Silver King 28 mouthpiece (like new condition), original King marching band lyre and cleaning rod. You're not going to find one of these from this era in this condition and if you do, it's either not for sale, refurbished/re-lacquered or priced well over $3000.
This one is $2200 shipped to the lower 48 states/CONUS.

3.) 1978 King Duo Gravis Silver Sonic Bass Trb
One owner (gentlemen who did local orchestra & chamber group work in NJ & PA, instrument was very well cared for). This horn is a BEAST. A friend of mine that has subbed on bass trombone with several renowned orchestras (Cleveland, Chicago, Pittsburgh) play tested this axe and lost his mind. He normally plays a mint Mt. Vernon Bach 50. He sounded just as good on this! Here's the scoop: originally these instruments have two triggers that are side by side and operated by the thumb. I had Josh Landress of J. Landress brass here in NYC build linkage to convert this to a standard two trigger configuration. It's now the best of both worlds, the sound of the King plus the ergonomics of a more modern instrument. It is still a "dependent" rotor system because Josh thought the work to convert it to an "independent" configuration would alter the timbre & response of the instrument too much.
Great condition, slight scattered lacquer wear typical of age. Gold wash in bell almost 100%, except for one spot about an inch long and a couple millimeters wide where a small crease in the bell was repaired by Josh. Slide is easily 9.5/10, no wear on inners. Comes with original case and original vinyl case cover! $4000 shipped to lower 48/CONUS
