For sale for $1190 (or best offer) is my excellent condition Yamaha YSL-683G, a straight tenor (.525) with a 8.5 gold brass bell. (Note: I will pay all UPS shipping costs to the lower 48 states.) I believe this model was last manufactured in 2005. This horn is in excellent condition and clearly has been cared for throughout its life.
It is in great physical and cosmetic condition, in fact IMO the lacquer on the bell is almost perfect. As should be expected there is some normal lacquer wear on the points of contact where the hands hold the slide but it is not excessive nor ugly. The rest of the horn looks 98% unblemished IMO. The slide itself moves great, as it seems with all Yamaha slides!
As for sound, I have noticed the gold bell does provide it a slightly more mellow/darker tone vs. the yellow bell horns I have compared it too, but the degree of the deeper tone is very moderate to slight (IMO).
Included in this sale is the original Yamaha square coffin case that has a lot of room for mutes, supplies, etc. The case is also in excellent condition.
I will ship the horn, at my cost, in a well-protected cardboard box with all components tightly secured inside.
