Looking for a pair for a 42.

The 42 never came with slide springs.  Nor did the Yamahas.

Bob Osmun made a pair for my Yamaha 682 by cutting a baritone horn valve spring in half.  That's probably your best option.

Remove bumper corks (or felts).

Cut the spring in half. 

Bend the spring wire where you just cut it to point in the direction of compression.  About 1/4" to 1/2" of spring wire.

Place the springs one on each inner with the point you just made pointing toward the mouthpiece receiver or tenon.

Ram the outer slide in a couple of times to seat the spring.
