FS: Shires 1Y/TB4762/Thayer

Very nice playing horn but also very different than my tastes suit! Cosmetically its in pretty good condition for being old enough to have the hand engraving, but does have lacquer loss and some pitting where your hands normally go in particular. I don't know the age of it; The bell is not stamped 1Y but the person I acquired it from indicated it as such and I have no reason to dispute the claim.

The thayer valve on it sounds like its sealing quite well; gives a very nice popping sound when I remove the tuning slide. The throw on this particular valve is a lot shorter than I expected to be from a thayer.  Really quite nice.

Similarly, the slide seals well (doesn't move very much when I plug the exit holes with my fingers). The action is as quick as you'd expect a regular weight Shires slide to be. Just a hair slower than my T47LW.

Both tuning slides have smooth action.

Includes a "2" leadpipe.

These are near $5000 new; asking $2491 + 6% WV Sales tax, free shipping CONUS. Will consider a partial trade for cash + a Duo Gravis as well.
