This Tuesday, Dec. 19th at 8 pm I'll be presenting a new recital full of NYC premieres and killer pieces! I've been working hard on these works for awhile now, and I'm happy to be presenting them near my home in Brooklyn at iBeam, located in Gowanus at 168 7th St, Brooklyn.
On this program will be new commissions from Jason Eckardt (co-commissioned with Matt Barbier), Paul Clift. and Anthony Vine (which has five foot controlled cassette decks!), as well as Thanos Chrysakis' Terra Firma for alto trombone and Eve Beglarian's giant new work "i am lost by streams" for trombone, pre-recorded trombones and video.
Jason's new work "compression", which you can hear a preview of the first half of on soundcloud, references compressive and positional asphyxia, particularly as a result of police brutality, and is the basis of the recital, which takes a tour through extrended techniques and technology on the journey from brutality to transcendence in the Vermont wilderness. I hope you'll be able to join me.
