Since I started playing about 7 years ago, I have made the mistake of depending on moving my mouth up and down the mouthpiece to change registers. About 3 weeks ago, I began an effort towards correcting this and have since rebuilt my comfortable range up to a high G-Ab. If I try to play higher, however, the area above my top lip begins to inflate and I lose the note. Will this problem go away as I continue to expand my range, or is it the result of something else I may be doing wrong?

I would not be able to guess without seeing you play. There are different embouchure types and many different variations of facial structure. Puffing under either lip is bad news but the way to fix it depends on the reason why it's happening.
