I am curious about the .525 Blessing trigger horn, the B-78.
Has anyone on the forum played one? I know that Blessings had quality control problems especially in regard to inner slide plating, at least for awhile.
The B-88 was modeled after than 42B but I understand that they also produced one that was more along the line of the 88H. I have no idea what horn B-78 is inspired by.
Anybody familiar with the Blessing B-78?

B-88 was modeled on the Conn 88H. B-78 was more along the lines of the Conn 79H

The nice feature of the B-78 is that it shares the slide tenon of the B-88 and Conn 88H large bore horns. You can mix and match slides and bells and experiment!

What year is it?
I have a B88 (modeled after Conn 88H) from the early 1970s that has no issue at all with slide plating.
As Bruce says , the B78 is modeled after the Conn 79H.

I haven]t seen the horn yet except for pictures. The seller was asking $400 but he said he'd take $300. I'm on the fence whether to go see it.

Any American made .525 for the price of some mouthpieces is a great deal.
See it. Buy it if it is in good mechanical shape. A comparable modern horn would go for $2500 or more.

If it is playable, that's a bargain. It's a bargain even if you have to spend $100 to get the slide to where it should be.
