I just bought a Holton tenor that looks very similar to the Stratodyne, with hex-shaped brace sockets, nickel slide, and nickel neckpipe. The bell is yellow brass, and it's a straight-bore .485. The only numbers stamped on it are "96" on the slide lock, and 710 on the slide tenon joint. Anyone ever hear of such a horn? I thought maybe it was a 69 and I was looking at the numbers upside down, but it only took me six or seven tries to figure out the "96" upside down is still "96." And yes, I know what you're probably thinking.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Holton 96?
I've never seen any mention of a 96. I'm also interested if anyone has any information.

Perhaps the man with the number stamps was dyslexic.
