Arthur Pryor had no way of knowing who our current Commander-in-Chief would be. Or did he? When I perform a solo, I like to imagine a story (preferably humorous) to go along with it. It just helps me to keep focused, and hopefully feel calmer than I might otherwise be. This weekend at the NABBA championships in Ft. Wayne, I've chosen to perform Pryor's "The Little Chief".
That is the full title, as named by Arthur. However, I've elaborated on it a bit to go along with my story:
"The Little Chief with the Teeny Tiny Brain, the Teeny Tiny Heart, the Teeniest-of-Tiny Hands, and the Hugely Bigly Mouth".
There is a lot of shouting, followed by calm, quiet phrases - the voices of reason and pleading.
The short cadenza at the bottom of the 1st page is a broken record, and ends with a little gliss that fades away as the record player is shut off.
Then, a lot of nonsense tweeted at a rapid-fire pace.
Pryor's signature rapid lip slurs at the end translates to "blah blah blah blah..."
End of story.
