Miguel Zenon Golden City nominated for a grammy

Post by jacobgarchik »

Miguel Zenon's Golden City was nominated for a Grammy.
The album features 3 trombones.
I play on "Sanctuary City".

Miguel Zenón - alto saxophone
Matt Mitchell - piano
Chris Tordini - bass
Dan Weiss - drums
Miles Okazaki - guitar
Daniel Díaz - congas, tripandero and percussion
Diego Urcola - trumpet and valve trombone (solo on Sacred Land)
Alan Ferber - trombone (solo on Displacement and Erasure)
Jacob Garchik - tuba and trombone (solo on Sanctuary City)

Very well-performed, well-engineered.

I find the emphasis on atonality to be pretty old-fashioned in a way that isn't appealing.

What a coincidence! I recommended Miguel’s music to a sax player I met last night at a rehearsal and then realized it had been awhile since I checked out his recordings. Listened to Golden City twice in the car and loved it!

I only recognized Alan Ferber’s sound and thought I’d look up the personnel tonight.

Congratulations!
