Info on Takuma tenor thayer valve horn
Hi, anyone know of these?? Chinese I guess… but any good? I am getting one offered as a trade in and I am having trouble valuing it correctly. Seems to me 500 euro max, but maybe I am wrong???

Is that not a Shires or Eastman? All the fittings and engraving say so.

Interesting…. I just asked for a close up of the inscription on the bell…

Name (Takuma) seems Japanese. But this trombone is unlikely to have been made in Japan.
Bell engraving could give a clue.

We'd have to see the bell, and maybe a serial number to better assess what horn this is.
To me it looks like a Shires knockoff, or maybe even a Shires Q - like Aidan says.

Really interesting! Definitely a shires style knock off. The first give away for me is the slide lock ring on the slide receiver. It doesn’t have the double knurling that shires does. I wonder if it plays okay?

It plays ok…. Hopefully better after the leadpipe change. I tried to find info on the Takuma brand, but there is no info whatsoever….
