King Catalogs from the 70's?

Post by heinamj »

All of my Kings have been from the 70's (so far), does anyone know where I might be able to find pdfs of some of the catalogs from that era to look through?

I played a King 4B (made in 1977) for many years. I would be very interested in seeing any catalogs that you have. Thanks!

I'd like a copy of those as well. (Once I get my third post approval, I can message you with my email)

In addition to those scans, I've seen someone on reverb selling some framed vintage King ads. They all look like they were cut out from old magazines - did king make any larger promotional items like posters etc in the late 60's / early 70's?

I don't care about having original (or framed) vintage ads, does anyone know what magazines would King have advertised in during that era? I could have those on my list of things to look out for, since stacks of vintage musty-smelling magazines are usually not very expensive - getting copies of the originals to scan in at high resolution it might be fun to make some large posters of them.

King made posters and even banners during the 1960s and 1970s. These were mostly sent to music stores that were King dealers. If you know of an old music store you could ask if they have an old King poster buried away somewhere.

Ads? I've seen ads in The Instrumentalist (a magazine aimed at music teachers). I know that once the ITA Journal was started King would put full page adverts in the issues (and Benge later, when King brought out that line of trombones).
