Vincent Bach American Style Baritone?

Post by YunoWho »

Hi there,

So I'm not sure if it's been talked about already but I have this baritone I'm handing off to a friend and was looking around for info about it. I've searched long and hard and can't find hardly anything about it. I'll try and put up some photos to go with this, but for a brief run down, it's a American style baritone with a forward angled bell, only marked with Vincent Bach, serial 06432 and a conical horn. I'm fairly new at this kind of stuff so I apologize in advance 😅
Thank you,

I would guess it was made by Olds. Looks the same as an Olds Ambassador, except with a fixed bell.

Did Bach and Olds have any history? Cause this horn is identical to the Olds horn but it's labeled as Bach.

Bach did market stencil versions of Yamaha YEP321 euphoniums at one point.

Bach's marching horns seemed to be Old clones as well. Blessing seemed to have the same designs. I remember reading once something about Olds selling the tooling for their marching horns to Blessing. Perhaps Blessing made them for Bach.

I've heard that Selmer purchased some of the Olds tooling when Olds closed down in 1979; Certain Bach mellos, marching trombones, tubas, sousaphones, marching baritones, and "American" baritones closely resemble Olds instruments.
