Looking to find out if anyone knows what this is.
I think it's maybe a Director from the 80's. Not sure what the "L" prefix means.

From the "Conn Loyalist" website:
The "Director" name is reserved for student model instruments.
What Conn said in 1959:
Student trombone that is first with full bore and "band sound" in brass. Slide is smooth, famous Crysteel with extra long receivers to give better bearing in extended position. Features include:
Crysteel slides, professional bore, proper playing balance, Lustre-Conn finish.
What Conn said in 1966:
Most popular trombones [14H and 18H] in school bands throughout the country... more widely used than any other. Famous for their ability to stand up under hard use. Beautifully rich and full sound. 18H has Coprion bell for slightly darker, more centered tone. Bore size: [0].484". Bell 7½". Length 46¼".

As greenbean noted, your Director was made in 1968, in Elkhart, Indiana.
